Socrates the Elder has been described as a high-ranking diplomat during the communist regime. The well-known ambassador had climbed the ladder of diplomacy one by one and held many important posts. Sokrat Plaka, who had graduated from the University of Moscow with a degree in diplomacy, in one of the most famous diplomatic institutes in the world, and who had work experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been Albania’s ambassador to Yugoslavia for several years and in the early 1980s, Sokrat Plaka was also the number two of our country’s Foreign Ministry. Sokrat Plaka is remembered in Albanian diplomacy for his great work in strengthening relations with Greece and Turkey in the early ‘80s. This also led to the softening of relations between these countries and Albania.
